Culture Eats Strategy for Breakfast. But Strategy Eats No Strategy Too.

In this episode, Jens Heitland breaks down a crucial truth about CEO visibility: posting without a plan is just noise. While it’s great that more leaders are showing up online, most do so without a clear strategy, missing the opportunity to build real influence.

1. Consistency Beats Randomness
The first step is understanding frequency. How often do you post? When do you post? Random activity leads to random results. Building consistency in timing and tone helps your audience trust your rhythm and anticipate your voice.

2. Authentic Stories Drive Connection
The most powerful content comes from personal experience. CEOs should share stories that reflect lessons learned, framed in a way that helps others in the same industry. These insights position you not only as a leader but also as a teacher.

3. Industry Awareness Fuels Relevance
True leadership requires forward vision. Look ahead to where your industry is moving, what obstacles are emerging, and how your company or clients are navigating them. That's where your strategic storytelling should focus.

4. Every Word Is an Investment
A CEO's post isn't just content, it’s an asset. Each word carries potential return on investment when crafted with purpose. Aligning message and mission transforms social media into an accurate leadership tool.

Final Thought
Posting for the sake of posting is easy. Leading with clarity, purpose, and strategy is what separates visibility from influence. When culture meets strategy and strategy is intentional, every word becomes a step toward meaningful leadership.

Culture eats strategy for breakfast, but strategy eats no strategy" for breakfast too. A lot of CEOs are posting on social media, which is great to see, especially if you have a media company. But the challenge I see is that a lot of CEOs are posting without a proper strategy. Two things to that. One thing is, "How often do they post?",

"When do they post?". They have no clue about this. They're randomly posting something, or worse case, their PR team and or marketing team is posting randomly something. The second part is super crucial, is understanding exactly what to post. I always say: Stories that enable you to share from your personal experience, what you have learned so that other people can learn from that, inside of your industry, and connect it to your business.

The second part is looking ahead and looking truly into "Where's the industry heading?", "What are the difficulties right now?", and "How does that relate to our clients and/ or customers?". If you build this together with a strategic approach, looking into what is the return on invest of every single word that the CEO shares on social media as an example, is going to make a huge difference.
