Why Every CEO Needs a Personal Website
Many CEOs still underestimate the power of owning their digital presence. They focus on company websites, social media profiles, and press coverage. But there’s one critical platform that remains underused: their personal website.
Your personal website is not about design or traffic. It’s about control. Control of your story. Control of how the world perceives you.
1. Your Narrative Needs Ownership
When someone searches your name, what do they find? Is it your voice or someone else’s? A personal website ensures that your story is told the way you intend it. It’s your home base, not a rented space on someone else's platform.
2. A Website Is a Compounding Asset
Unlike social media, your website remains visible and accessible at all times. Content you publish today will still work for you years from now. Visitors will read old insights, consume your thinking, and build trust over time.
3. Trust Is Built, Not Bought
People don’t come to your site to be sold to. They come to learn, to understand who you are, and to connect with your perspective. That trust compounds, turning casual readers into long-term advocates or partners.
4. You Own What You Create
The most significant advantage of a personal website is permanence. No one can switch it off or change your narrative. It’s the one place where your professional legacy lives and grows on your terms.
Final Thought
Every CEO has a story worth owning. Your personal website is not a luxury; it’s your digital foundation. Start building your compounding asset today and take back control of your narrative.

Every CEO should have a personal website. It's super funny when I talk to CEOs and tell them first time, Hey, you should have a personal website, and then every CEOI have not had one is saying, yeah, why the hell would I need a personal website? The reason for that is that you are building a compounding asset, so just try this for yourself.
Google your name. And then see how your narrative comes across in the industry. And then you look who is owning that narrative? Is it you, meaning it's based on your personal website that you own, and you can control what is written there. Or is it someone else? Is it your company? Is it someone else's company?
Is it a magazine? Whoever it is, think about this. If you control the narrative that you own in your personal website, it never goes away. 'cause never, ever, anyone else can switch it off, and that's a superpower. I have more than 50,000 people looking at my personal website. And it's not the most fancy website, but what they do is they dig into what I have done over the last six years content wise, and they read content that's four years old, five years old, three years old, and they approach that from a way of interest to them.
Not that I'm going to sell them anything, they just consume content. And that builds trust and will help you to succeed long term, build an asset that's compounding.
