679 - Why Posting More Content Doesn't Work Anymore

Jens Heitland explains why posting frequency matters less than delivering real value, and why quality is what signals a human perspective behind the content rather than AI output.

Why Posting More Content Doesn't Work Anymore

The instinct with content is almost always to produce more. More posts, more platforms, more frequency. I see this instinct in nearly every organization I work with, and I understand where it comes from. Visibility feels like a numbers game, so the response is to increase the numbers.

What I have found is closer to the opposite. Volume rarely moves the outcome that matters. What moves it is whether the content actually delivers something: a piece of thinking, a way of looking at a problem, a perspective the reader did not already have.

Content built to sell differs from content built to be understood. Selling asks for something immediately. Understanding asks for nothing and gives something instead: a clear view into how a person or a company actually thinks. Over time, that clarity becomes its own kind of value. People who understand how you think can predict how you will act, and predictability, used well, builds trust faster than any pitch.

This only works at a certain quality level. A rushed post signals itself immediately, whether a person wrote it carelessly or a tool generated it quickly. The reader notices the lack of care before anything else, and once they do, the message underneath rarely gets through. Quality isn't polish applied at the end. It signals that a real person thought about what they were saying and to whom.

This changes how I think about a content calendar. The question is rarely how much to publish this month. The question is whether what gets published actually shows how I think, clearly enough that someone on the other side walks away understanding something they did not understand before.

The thing with content these days is that it's not necessarily that you need to post more. It's all about how do you post things on social media that deliver value to the company. And it's not about how do I sell inside of social media context. It's all about how do you get your thinking across so that the other side understands how you think and with that makes you more predictable and more interesting to the other side.

And then do that in quality so that the other side can see it's not just done by AI.
