Why Every B2B Podcast Is Really a Relationship Engine
A podcast episode ends the moment the recording stops. What it produces does not. Every conversation leaves something behind that the recording itself never captures: a connection that continues long after the microphones are off.
Over 260 episodes, I have stayed close to many of the people I sat across from. Not all of them. At that volume, staying connected to everyone would no’t be realistic. But enough of them remain part of my working life that the pattern is worth naming.
That closeness has become part of how my business moves through the world. A guest who spends an hour in conversation with me leaves with a clearer picture of what I do, shaped by direct experience rather than marketing. That picture tends to stay with them, and it resurfaces later, often in moments I never see directly.
A B2B business runs on this kind of quiet familiarity more than most people admit. Someone asks a colleague if they know anyone who does a certain kind of work, and the answer depends entirely on who comes to mind. A former guest, still loosely connected, is far more likely to come to mind.
This is why a B2B podcast is never just content. Content reaches an audience once. A relationship, once formed, keeps reaching back into that audience indefinitely, through the person who now understands the work and occasionally speaks of it.
Most people measure a podcast by what is visible: downloads, views, episodes published. The relationships it builds tend to matter more than the episodes themselves, and they rarely show up in any of those numbers.

The thing that has changed, if we just look back the last 10 years, is that when I was looking into purchasing a service in big corporate, I obviously did the research and checked what this company is about, what the people are about that I'm going to meet. But what has changed is that today you can literally do this in a couple of minutes.
You just ask about the company inside of ChatGPT or Claude or any of the others, and then you get what you can find. And the interesting part of that is all of that can be changed because you are, as a company that want to present themselves, in the driver's seat, and you can really pinpoint on what are the exact stories and the exact things that the other side is seeing if they use AI.
The tricky thing is, many companies are not even leveraging that yet, and that's a huge opportunity
