Jens Heitland explains how often a B2B podcast needs to publish to keep its audience, why a weekly or fortnightly rhythm works well for business and corporate podcasts, and why a monthly schedule tends to fade from view, as podcast apps learn from listener behavior and give more visibility to the shows that publish regularly, which turns publishing frequency into a core part of any organization’s podcast and thought leadership strategy.

The Algorithm Remembers the Shows That Show Up
Organizations that launch a podcast usually think carefully about guests, topics, and production quality. Publishing frequency often gets less attention. It often depends on available time, internal approvals, or a small team's capacity, and a monthly rhythm can feel responsible and realistic. Podcasts that have built a loyal audience look quite different. The strongest shows publish several times a week, some as often as five times. In the business space, the pace can be calmer, and a weekly or fortnightly rhythm is usually enough to keep listeners coming back.
The reason sits inside the podcast app itself. Listeners follow a number of shows, and every new episode arrives as a small notification. Each time someone opens one of those episodes, the app registers interest. Over time, it builds a picture of which shows matter to that person and gives them more space, more visibility, and more prompts. In my own listening, I can see the effect clearly. Of the shows I follow, the ones that publish regularly are the ones I hear from. A show that releases once a month gradually stops reaching me, and I often don't notice a new episode until much later.
For a company, the consequence is easy to underestimate. A monthly podcast may be well produced and full of strong conversations, yet it competes for attention with shows that appear in the same feed four or five times as often. Listeners rarely decide to leave, and yet the app gradually learns to surface other shows in their place. Interest fades quietly, and the effort invested in each episode reaches fewer people than it could. Over a year, the gap between a weekly show and a monthly one grows far wider than the difference in episode count would suggest.
A steady rhythm changes the dynamic. Publishing every week keeps the show present in the listener’s routine and the platform's logic. Publishing every week also builds a library over time. Every episode becomes content the organization can draw on for years, in articles, short clips, newsletters, and conversations with clients. A single conversation recorded today can stay relevant long after it was published, and its value keeps growing as it is reused in new contexts.
Frequency is often treated as a production detail, something to settle once the format feels clear. In practice, it shapes whether people hear the podcast at all. Organizations that build a consistent rhythm into the engine from the beginning give their content a fair chance to find its audience, and to keep it.

If we look at the frequency of a podcast, what I have seen, if they're successful, they're publishing five times a week, which is a little bit crazy, sometimes two times only, But it's quite a lot. I think if we look into B2B podcast of organizations like business podcasts, I think it's like every two weeks or every week, is enough to really drive listeners to come back, But I wouldn't go into only once a month. The reason for that is my behavior when it comes to podcast is that I'm following certain podcasts and when there's a new podcast coming up, I get the ping And if there are five podcasts that I'm listening to and they're all publishing more often, and I'm basically training the algorithm in my podcast app that I'm just interested in them because the other one is not publishing often enough, I'm not even seeing that the other one is published. And I think that's something just to bear in mind when you work with a podcast inside a B2B environment. Every week will help you to stay on top, and you literally create content that you can leverage forever, and that's something that should be part of the engine when you build a podcast
